AHA is calling on producers to nominate for the inaugural Farm Biosecurity Award. We want producers to step forward and be rewarded for their exemplary biosecurity practice. AHA members can also nominate someone they think is doing a fantastic job.

Straight forward selection criteria simplify the nominations process; simply follow the steps to nominate a producer, producer group or yourself. The winner will receive a $2,000 cheque and a hand crafted glass trophy to be presented at the Awards presentation in Canberra on 19 September 2009.

The Farm Biosecurity Award is one of the five awards being presented in the inaugural Australian Rural & Outback Awards to recognise the incredible achievements of people and their communities across rural and remote Australia.

The Farm Biosecurity Award provides a terrific opportunity to celebrate biosecurity and encourage all producers to embrace good biosecurity practices on-farm.

Nomination forms are available at www.awardsaustralia.com or by calling 1300 735 445.  Don’t miss out, nominations close on 10th July 2009.

The “Calf scours in southern beef enterprises” project was initiated and fully funded by Meat & Livestock Australia following concern from beef producers that there was little consistent information available on the prevention, control or treatment of neonatal calf diarrhoea (NCD) in Australian pastoral suckler beef enterprises. The technical information and supporting tools have been put together following a comprehensive literature review to ensure the content covers the latest science and current thinking. They have been evaluated by a team of producers and beef veterinarians to ensure they reflect current best practice farm management and are consistent with other MLA extension programs- notably More Beef from Pastures (MBfP).
