Join us at the AVA Conference in Canberra on 20-25th May.
- The AVA Conference is the largest veterinary gathering in Australia boasts a stellar line-up of national and international speakers plus over 113 trade exhibitors showcasing what’s hot and what’s new in the market.
- There are 8 consecutive streams, 187 scientific sessions, 134 local and international speakers and experts covering dairy and beef cattle, small animal, equine, sheep, welfare and behaviour, practice management, dental, public health, and the unusual and much more. And don’t miss out on our breakfast and lunch sessions!
- Eight international speakers will share the latest insights and findings in equine bacterial infections, metabolic diseases, behavioural problems, reconstructive surgery, practical clinical disease management and practice management
- New opening Plenary on Sunday afternoon with Professor Joe Brownlie CBE who will address the topics of “Who Owns Disease” and the role of the veterinarian in a changing world
Of particular interest to Cattle Vets:
- One of the keynote speakers, Dave Van Metre has spoken at ACV conferences before and was a big hit. From Colorado State University, Dave is a real clinician’s clinician with topics such as practical tips on managing diseases like haemorrhagic bowel syndrome, urolithiasis, down cows, fracture repair in the field, and metabolic disease.
- On Wednesday, Ben Gardiner and Rob Bonanno are organizing a forum on the Sustainability of Agriculture. The RSPCA, Cattle Council, the Wellfare SIG, and Senator Back will all be there.
- We have social functions on the Monday night – an informal “Chewing the Cud” will replace the “Tipsy Tips” that has been held in previous years, and the Cattle and Sheep Dinner on Wednesday night already has plenty of registrations.
There’s plenty more too.
A summary of the cattle oriented topics is below.

It’s exciting to announce the launch of a new intramammary antibiotic product for the treatment of clinical mastitis in dairy cows from Pfizer Animal Health.
